The Rating System

For your reference, here’s an in depth rating scale specific to my personal views about what my ratings mean to me.

1 Star – Rare

This book was absolute crap. I couldn’t get through it, I even hated the exposition! I would not recommend this to anyone.

Basically means that I didn’t enjoy the book at all, whether it was the concepts, characters, archetypes/cliches, or anything else you can think of. Don’t read this book. Just don’t. This is probably a really uncommon rating that I will give because as a reader, I don’t sit too well with the idea of giving up on a book, no matter how bad it is.

2 Stars – Very Common

This book is definitely not one of my favourites. I barely made it to the end, and it took me about a week to finish. I read it sluggishly, and couldn’t be bothered to pick it up most of the time. As a bookworm, if I was given a choice between a book or my phone I would pick up my book, but there are exceptions. This book was definitely an exception. It had it’s moments though, and I can pick out a couple of positive things about. This is an extremely common rating for me to give, as it signifies that I really didn’t enjoy reading the book but perhaps it was just me and my personal taste. There were a couple of good things that I could say about it though, just to be positive.

3 Stars – Common

This book was a very good read. I enjoyed it, it made me laugh a couple of times. I liked the concept, I liked the characters and I liked pretty much everything else about it. But that’s just it. I liked it. I didn’t love it, or freak out about it, or cry about it. It was good, but not that good. Still, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to others.

4 Stars – Very Common

I LOVED IT! This was a fantastic read! I immensely enjoyed the concepts, the plot lines, the characters just EVERYTHING. And then it was also the type of book that I loved so much that I was actually invested enough to care about whether things went how I wanted them to or not. Examples? The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey. It was brilliant, but not on my favourites shelf.

5 Stars – Reserved for specific books only 🙂

I shouldn’t even have to tell you how amazing this book is. IT IS MIND BOGGLINGLY MAGNIFICENT. I honestly pity you because you haven’t read it.

What are you doing?

Why haven’t you left my blog yet and obtained the book?

GO. Shoo!
