After the release of Queen of Shadows and Fate of Ten, I could not resist the invisible tug that my local bookstore had on me this weekend. So I went.
I, of course, did not leave the bookstore without Queen of Shadows in my hand, and along with that, I bought The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski (which I’ve had my eye on for quite a while now) and Reawakened by Colleen Houck (the author that wrote one of my FAVOURITE romance series, Tiger’s Curse).
Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas –
If you don’t know anything about this book, please go do yourself a favour and read Throne of Glass. Right now. I don’t even care if you stop right in the middle of my post, Throne of Glass is more important than this.
When I set my eyes on this piece of MAGIC from across the bookstore, I literally stopped in my tracks and like my heart SKIPPED A BEAT. I kinda ran to it and knelt down and then I picked a copy up and I turned it over and examined every single inch of it and I hugged it and it was frickin’ weird but IT’S QUEEN OF SHADOWS ALRIGHT.
The first thing I noticed was OH MY HOLY GOODNESS IT’S FAT AND I LOVE IT. Upon closer inspection, I deducted that it’s a whole 645 PAGES OF PURE…
UGH THERE’S NOT A GOOD ENOUGH WORD (like I actually searched for a word in Thesaurus, but none came up to par).
The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski –
Winning what you want may cost you everything you love…
As a general’s daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions.
One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction. Arin’s eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him—with unexpected consequences. It’s not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin.
But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.
For those of you who don’t know, Marie Rutkoski also wrote Shadow Society, which I absolutely LOVED! That is why, when I saw her name on the book and read the blurb, I thought it could be a good read. I have kinda high expectations…
I’d love to hear any comments about what you thought of this book, and if my high expectations will be fulfilled 🙂
Reawakened by Colleen Houck –
Okay, Colleen Houck is a romance novel storytelling MAGICIAN.
If you haven’t read her Tiger’s Curse series, you need to get on that right now because I absolutely LOVED it. I died for the characters and the plot and the hot guys and the romance and the hot guys and OMFG the whole thing was to die for! So, when I saw this book on the bookshelf, just sitting there all like “I’m flawless. My author is flawless, my cover is flawless, my blurb is flawless. I’m flawless” I kinda had to grab it.
Like what is life anymore? Can I have that turned into wallpaper and plastered over everything I own?
And, what excites me the most is the fact this time around, Colleen Hock is basing her new series off of EGYPTIAN mythology. In Tiger’s Curse, she worked with Hindu mythology so beautifully and masterfully that I am so utterly excited to read her twist up and awesome-ify Egyptian mythology! I have a feeling I’ll DEVOUR this.
The Fate of Ten by Pittacus Lore:
The reason this book isn’t in the picture is because I didn’t buy it (you probably gathered as much). But, it was at my bookstore. There’s a small catch though…
That one was at my bookstore.
Now this is the one I want. The other one is just plain ugly like no stahp get it away. I’m going to go back every weekend until the have the prettier version – WISH ME LUCK!
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed my mini mini book haul! I’m UBER EXCITED TO READ THESE BOOKS.
QUEEN OF SHADOWS THOUGH. AAAARRRGHHH
Thanks for reading! Please let me know all of your thoughts (pertaining to this post, of course) down below! I’d love to hear what you guys think!!
